I would like to learn how to tie a scarf as well. So when you learn, come teach me! And no, no one says swell anymore. But my new toothbrush might say BFF on it...so I won't judge you if you don't judge me!
i can teach you to knit! and I am kind of obsessed with scarves.
fold tie in half, joining the two ends. wrap around your neck holding the two ends in front of each shoulder. take the side with the two ends of the scarf and pull them through the loop created by the middle of the scarf. pull to desired tightness.

Kim--REALLY?!!?!? I have to warn you, I have only ever made one little nine patch (is that even the right term? SEE?!) and sewn on two buttons (during week 2 of marriage. I was feeling gutsy). ...but DEAL!
